G.722.2 ITU-T compatible vocoder

ITU-T Recommendation G.722.2 or Wideband Adaptive Multi Rate coder (AMR-WB) is standardized by 3GPP as the mandatory codec for wideband telephony. The coder uses 320 speech frame samples (20 m sec) with 16 KHz as the sampling frequency. This works on the principle of ACELP (Algebraic Code excited linear prediction). The G.722.2 AMR-WB codec operates on nine speech coding bit-rates between 6.6 and 23.85 kbit/s. This also comprises of VAD, CNG, DTX (Discontinuous Transmission) algorithms.
