G.728 ITU-T compatible vocoder

G.728 is a 16 kb/s algorithm for coding telephone-bandwidth speech using Low Delay-Code Excited Linear Prediction (LDCELP), which is primarily based on CELP. This coder is well suited to a wide range of applications, including both voice storage and voice communications. It is ideally suited for telecommunications networks in which toll-quality speech is a requirement and total communications link delay is an important factor. It has also been accepted as a speech-coding standard for cable modems.
