FSA issued its CYQ2 2006/Mid-Year Global Fabless Fundings & Financials Report, outlining key statistics for industry growth in 1H 2006, including:

Fabless industry revenue totaled $23.7 billion, equating to 20 percent of total semiconductor sales ($118.0 billion)

Worldwide fabless industry revenue grew 32 percent year-over-year

Top ten fabless companies listed by 1H 2006 revenue, which combined for a total of $12.4 billion, or 52 percent of total fabless industry revenue.

Broadcom [NASDAQ: BRCM]: $1.8B

NVIDIA Corporation [NASDAQ: NVDA]: $1.4B

SanDisk Corporation [NASDAQ: SNDK]: $1.3B

ATI Technologies [NASDAQ: ATYT]: $1.3B

Marvell Technology Group Ltd [NASDAQ: MRVL]: $1.1B

LSI Logic [NYSE: LSI]: $966M

Xilinx, Inc. [NASDAQ: XLNX]: $954M

MediaTek Incorporation [TSEC: 2454]: $701M

Altera [NASDAQ: ALTR]: $627M

North American fabless companies represented 75 percent of revenue, followed by Asia with 21 percent, Europe with 3 percent and India with <1 percent.

85 companies raised $1.1 billion, a 22 percent year-over-year dollar amount increase and a 9 percent year-over-year increase in the number of deals closed.
