Marvell Expands its 3G Portfolio; Marvell to License 3G Protocol Software Stack from Motorola
3GSM - Barcelona -- February 12, 2007 -- Marvell, (NASDAQ: MRVL), the leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that it has added a critical piece of 3G smartphone technology to its Cellular and Handheld solutions portfolio. Marvell has reached an agreement with Motorola to license the Motorola TTPCom cellular protocol software stack, which will enable the company to deliver a comprehensive hardware and software platforms for 3G smartphone manufacturers. The terms of the agreement provide Marvell with a complete manufacturing and distribution license.

We know the code and are excited to quickly provide a complete and customized 3G solution directly to our OEM partners, enabling lower cost and faster time-to-market.”
Motorola’s TTPCom technology has shipped in hundred of millions of handsets worldwide. The software stack Marvell is licensing enables dual-mode, low-power, ultra-low cost 2.5 and 3G cellular handsets and will further enhance the Company’s initiative to drive smartphone features into low-cost mainstream markets. Marvell’s Cellular and Handheld Business Group has worked with Motorola TTPCom technology for several years, porting the Motorola TTPCom stack to the PXA800 and PXA900 series of communications processors, which are already shipping in high volume. With this agreement Marvell will be able to provide customized solutions for its wireless communications processors and platforms.
