Patriot Scientific Announces Licensing Agreement with the LEGO Group
Patent Portfolio Isn't Just for Computers
CARLSBAD, Calif. – August 29, 2007 – Patriot Scientific announced today that the LEGO Group has purchased a license to the Moore Microprocessor Patent (MMP) portfolio. Marking its 75th year in business this month, LEGO has emerged as the world's sixth largest manufacturer of toys, including the MindStorms programmable robots.
"We're delighted with the idea that our technology has enabled LEGO to develop such wonderful educational toys," said Patriot Scientific CEO Jim Turley. LEGO becomes the 21st licensee of the company's fundamental patent portfolio and the fourth in Europe, after Nokia (Finland), Bull (France), and Schneider Electric (Germany). Previously announced licensees include such global corporations as Intel, AMD, Hewlett Packard, Casio, Fujitsu, Sony, Nikon, Seiko Epson, Pentax, Olympus, Kenwood, Agilent, Lexmark, NEC Corporation, Funai Electric, SanDisk and the Sharp Corporation.
