Novafora Completes Acquisition of Transmeta
Update: Intellectual Ventures has acquired Transmeta Patent Portfolio on Jan. 28, 2009
San Jose, Calif. – January 28, 2009 – Novafora, Inc., a developer of video processors, today announced that it has completed its acquisition of Transmeta Corporation (formerly listed as NASDAQ: TMTA). The acquisition – which was formally announced on November 17, 2008 – was finalized upon approval by Transmeta shareholders.
"With the completion of our acquisition of Transmeta, we are now focusing on putting its innovative technology to work," said Zaki Rakib, CEO of Novafora. "The addition of Transmeta’s power management technology to our video processor will enable us to target Novafora’s products to the broadest range of video-oriented devices."
Since its founding in 1995, Transmeta has been recognized for its innovative computing, microprocessor and semiconductor technologies, and in particular, its initial line of x86-compatible software-based microprocessors. In recent years the company’s business model has increasingly focused on licensing its technologies and related intellectual property.
