BIRD Owl, the new real-time debugging solution for the 16-bit microcontrollers, from Dolphin Integration
Meylan, France - March 11, 2011. The latest release of the real-time debugging solution, BIRD™ Owl, enables optimized development and debug of application programs at minimal cost! Thanks to itsinnovative approach for bug detection, BIRD™ Owl represents a step forward in terms of quality and flexibility with respect to existing solutions.
The main innovation of BIRD™ Owl is to separate the notion of detectors (for instance, identification of a specific access to a memory location) and actuators (the action triggered after the detection).
Thus, BIRD™ Owl provides a flexible matrix of detectors and actuators that can easily be configured by the software developer. This flexibility enables smart associations between event detectors (code execution, access to variables or registers) and a wide list of actuators that not only may stop program execution but also offer the capability to record a defined variable or count the number of occurrences of an event, without disrupting program execution, allowing true real-time debug.
Moreover, BIRD™ Owl includes a unique feature offering a clever replacement of instruction trace: dynamic display of the function call tree.
The Flip80251-Hurricane 16-bit MCU provides an easy, low-cost, low-risk, and reliable upgrade path for 8051 applications. It enablesaddressing energy efficiency concerns building on the strengths of 16-bit architectures for good code density as well as for good trade-off performance/cost.
With a high flexibility at minimal cost, BIRD Owl is the best debug solution for the 16-bit MCU Flip80251-Hurricane which targets 8/16-bit microcontroller applications requiring increased processing power, reduced operating frequency or larger addressing space than can be provided by 8-bit MCU such as the 8051.
