Xilinx Announces Continued Expansion Of Common License Consortium And Widespread Acceptance Of The SignOnce IP License
Consortium Swells To 33 Members And To 600 FPGA IP Cores
SAN JOSE, CA--(INTERNET WIRE)--Feb 27, 2002 -- Xilinx (NASDAQ:XLNX) and other members of the Common License Consortium announced over 150 soft IP-cores were licensed to customers of Xilinx FPGAs under the terms of the SignOnce IP License during the fourth quarter of 2001. In addition, consortium membership has grown to 33 worldwide IP providers, representing a combined portfolio of 600 IP cores. The widespread acceptance of the SignOnce IP License and growth of the consortium demonstrates the value of the industry's first set of common license terms designed to streamline access to IP cores for FPGAs from multiple providers.
"The Common License Consortium was created in response to input from many customers regarding the challenge of licensing IP cores from multiple sources. We knew the FPGA market was ready for a solution like this when we rolled it out last September," said Sandeep Vij, senior vice president of marketing at Xilinx. "Since then, we have expanded global support for this groundbreaking program and together have licensed a record number of cores."
Rapidly Expanding Membership
In September of 2001, Xilinx and 21 additional founding members announced the formation of the industry's first consortium for common FPGA IP license terms. Since then 11 new members have joined worldwide, making it the largest program of its kind. Consortium members are provided with a simple, two-page agreement that governs the use of the SignOnce IP License. Membership is free of charge and has expanded beyond the borders of the Xilinx AllianceCORE third-party IP provider program, demonstrating the broad appeal of the SignOnce IP licensing terms.
New consortium members include, Amphion Semiconductor, Ltd. of Belfast, Northern Ireland; Crossbow Technologies, Inc. of Sugar Land, Texas; Duma Video, Inc. of Portland, Oregon; eInfochips Pvt. Ltd. of Ahmedabad, India; ModelWare, Inc. of Red Bank, New Jersey; Moxsyn S.r.l. of Ascoli Piceno, Italy; Pinpoint Solutions, Inc. of Boulder Colorado; SACET, SARL of Bruz, France; Silicon Designs International, Inc. of Del Mar, California; SOC Solutions, L.L.C. of Duluth, Georgia and Tenesix, Inc. of Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
About the SignOnce IP License
The SignOnce IP License represents a landmark accomplishment for the IP industry by enabling customers to review and execute a single license when accessing FPGA cores from multiple suppliers. The license streamlines the purchasing process by separating legal and business issues. Business matters for subsequent core purchases can be managed by engineers and purchasing agents by a simple addendum process, and require no further legal assistance. Further information can be found on the Xilinx website (www.xilinx.com/ipcenter/signonce.htm). All Xilinx LogiCORE products and approved third-party AllianceCORE products supported by the SignOnce IP License terms can be found in the Xilinx IP Center web site (www.xilinx.com/ipcenter).
