Ittiam Systems to demonstrate real-time 1080p HEVC Encoding and 4K HEVC Decoding at IBC'13
Showcases updates to its broadcast solutions line-up including HEVC, MPEG-DASH playback and other Broadcast SDKs.
September 4, 2013 -- Ittiam Systems announced updates to its Video Encoder and Decoder for the next generation High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard aka H.265. The updates offer performance and video quality improvements leveraging patented technologies. Ittiam's software HEVC encoder on Intel x86 platforms supports UHD resolutions and is capable of real-time broadcast grade encoding of HD 1080p content. The software decoders on Intel and ARM CortexTM are capable of performing 4K/UHD real time decoding.Ittiam's HEVC encoder and decoder products have been licensed by customers across the globe.
Integrated with Ittiam Systems' MPEG-DASH player SDK, the HEVC decoder enables devices such as Smartphones, Tablets, Smart TVs and Set-Top Boxes to play back HEVC content with live and on-demand streaming. Ittiam's MPEG-DASH client will also be demonstrated at several customer and partner booths at IBC.
Dr. Sriram Sethuraman, Ittiam Fellow and Chief Technology Officer, quoted, "We have made significant progress towards a complete HEVC offering that exhibits compelling bit-rate savings over H.264 at an affordable computational complexity. Our real-time high quality HEVC capabilities enable both live and file-based workflows. Ittiam will continue pursuing its HEVC solutions roadmap with support for 10-bit profiles, real-time Ultra-HD solutions, GPU based acceleration through OpenCL, and low-power embedded implementations over the next few quarters."
Ittiam's product showcase at IBC also includes its neonCaster hardware platform and Software Development Kits (SDK) for high density, high definition encode, transcode and decode; and Ittiam's multi-format, high density audio transcode with an integrated loudness monitoring and leveling module complaint to CsALM and EBU R-128 specifications.
