UHD Video Processing and PCI Express DMA IP-cores for real world applications
BASINGSTOKE, UK - March 25, 2015 -- As high resolution camera and display technologies spread further beyond the mainstream broadcast market into medical, AV, events, military and telecoms, the need for practical, real world video processing solutions has grown, whilst the required time to market is under pressure. At the same time FPGA processing device capacity has grown to allow more ambitious and unique designs to be realised. Into this space, Omnitek has provided off the shelf and customised designs for numerous video equipment manufacturers, to allow them to focus on their USPs without the need to build expensive R&D teams to re-invent the required video processing firmware.
Omnitek’s Scalable Video Processor (OSVP) IP suite has grown from multichannel full HD to encompass 4K (UHD-1) and 8K (UHD-2) designs, High Frame Rate (HFR) designs and colour-space conversion for wider colour gamut requirements.

These designs have an inherent need for high speed data transfer, which is another Omnitek speciality – both within OSVP and as a separate IP-core. Efficient and fast video data transfer for CPU-based systems whether Linux, Windows or Embedded is provided by Omnitek’s PCI Express DMA Controller IP-core. Optimised for video and heavily used in processor-hungry video applications such as high resolution camera capture and low-latency display applications, the PCI Express DMA Controller comes with a reference design showing UHD-TV capture and playout from a PC. New for NAB is the announcement of support for up to Gen 3x 8 lanes.
Omnitek’s technology is on display at NAB Las Vegas April 13-16 on booth N3114, where visitors can also meet the principal consultants to discuss their design requirements.
About Omnitek:
