PTSC Fabricates First Advanced Soft-Generation 360MHZ IGNITE Silicon Implementation
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 2003--Patriot Scientific Corp. (PTSC) (OTCBB:PTSC - News), a developer of advanced embedded microprocessors, today announced successful fabrication and process validation of the high performance IGNITE(TM) processor design represented in software using Hardware Description Language (HDL) to silicon.
PTSC, QThink and D-Semi had previously announced an initial agreement to fabricate the IGNITE soft-generation in June 2002.
PTSC will be demonstrating its advanced soft-generation IGNITE silicon implementation to customers at the upcoming 2003 China International Integrated Circuit Exhibition & Seminar, March 24-26. The three companies worked together these past months to complete the final milestone of silicon implementation, validation and test of the advanced embedded processor.
The challenges in creating a soft-generation processor are extensive. As core processing requirements increase, these next generation processors must be designed to consume the lowest power and be transparent to the complex variations introduced by diverse fabrication processes.
"We are tremendously proud of our soft-generation processor design, and extremely pleased to have reached this critical milestone for our customers," said Jeff Wallin, PTSC president and CEO.
"We're pleased to announce this achievement at the high point of the IGNITE's value to our customers," stated Dr. Patrick Nunally, the chief technical officer for PTSC. This is a major accomplishment for PTSC's architecture and design methodology and a testament to the collaboration of all three companies," Nunally continued.
