ARM IP Ready for Use with Aptix Pre-Silicon Prototyping Systems
Sept. 25, 2003--Aptix Corporation, a leading supplier of pre-silicon prototyping tools and platforms for embedded System-on-Chip (SoC) design, announced today that the ARM926EJ-S(TM) core-based Soft Macrocell Model (SMM) runs on Aptix pre-silicon prototyping systems -- Aptix System Explorer(TM) and Aptix Software Integration Station(TM) -- and is available for immediate use by Aptix customers.
ARM® processor system designers now can use ARM IP and take advantage of the speed and debugging capability of the Aptix systems.
Luis Aldaz, Aptix Vice President of Applied Technology, said, "We have supported ARM core-based embedded system development for more than 3 years. Adding ARM processor IP support is one of the ways we continue to meet customers' needs."
Mark Snook, product manager for RealView® Hardware Platforms, ARM added, "We have worked closely with Aptix to make this solution available. Soft Macrocell Models enable high-speed emulation of ARM CPU cores using standard hardware components. Aptix users can now access ARM IP in a secure form without the need for a full CPU license."
The Soft Macrocell Model is an ARM926EJ-S core delivered in a RealView Logic Tile. The Logic Tile, which contains a Xilinx XC2V6000 FPGA, is mounted on an ARM RealView Interface Module (Integrator(TM)/IM-LT1). This assembly plugs into the Aptix interface module mounted on top of an Aptix Flexible Prototyping Module.
The ARM/Aptix Pre-Silicon Prototyping Model
Using Aptix System Explorer, engineers can build a complete pre-silicon prototype of their ARM core-based design, integrate other IP, run their selected operating system and application software, and validate their design under real-world conditions -- all before any silicon is available. Then, multiple development platforms can be delivered to software engineers using Aptix Software Integration Station(TM).
Price and Availability
Aptix customers can add the interface module to their Aptix systems for $3500.
