Suunto Chooses Nordic Semiconductor's 2.4GHz RF devices for the Suunto t6 Sports Instrument, the first sports instrument able to measure the effect of training
Suunto t6 is an innovative personal training tool to optimize training effects and the first sports instrument ever able to measure the effect of every training session on one's physical condition. The recently launched three PODs expand Suunto t6 to a wireless network area with even more training possibilities for an athlete and fitness enthusiast.
The 2.4GHz products from Nordic make the link between Suunto t6 wristop and the PODs. The nRF24XX family of 2.4GHz products, with its high level of integration, small size, very low power and ease of use, makes it a perfect fit for Suuntos sports instruments.
"Our initial choice of going with Nordic Semiconductor ASA was based on the excellence of their products and their commitments to ensuring Suunto a successful product development phase, said Ari Nikkola, Technical Director at Suunto. The co-operation with Nordic has been smooth and the products have been easy to work with."
"Suunto as a leading sports instrument manufacturer and a member of the Amer Group, is a global player in a fast growing market. The sports instrument market is a new and important market segment for Nordic that is expected to grow rapidly in the next few years. We won the design with the Nordic superior edge in size, power consumption and range offered by the nRF2401. I am pleased that Nordic technology is proving its excellence in this exciting and fast growing market segment," said Geir Langeland, Product Manager, Standard Components at Nordic Semiconductor ASA.
