New integrated SoC HMS30C7202 enables Internet appliances, PDAs, smart cell phones, MMC cards, Bluetooth[tm]-enabled devices, MP3 players and other digital consumer and post-PC applications
New HMS39C7092 family of products uses a high-performance, ARM® core-based embedded flash MCU suitable for optical storage, digital cameras, printers, OA machines and on-board firmware programmable systems

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 19, 2001- Hyundai Electronics America today announced its second generation of SoC solutions, HMS7202, and embedded flash ARM7 microcontroller family, the HMS39C70XX. The HMS30C7202 is suitable as a low-power, high-performance processor for Internet appliances, wireless Internet terminals, PDAs, smart cellular phones and music players. The 7202 is built around an ARM720T[tm] processor with an 8K bytes unified cache. HMS7202 features an SDRAM controller, four UARTs, USB interface, IrDa interface, 640x480 STN/TFT LCD controller, five-channel 10bit ADC, keyboard controller interface, JTAG, audio DAC, three 32-bit timers, 32-bit real time clock, and includes sophisticated five-level power management in 256PBGA and 256MQFP packages. The new product is a natural extension of the company's existing SoC product, the GMS30C7201. The HMS7202 runs on Microsoft Windows® CE, Linux and Nucleus OS RTOS (real time operating systems), and other OS supports are possible through third-party vendors.

The HMS39C70XX family provides embedded flash memory with an ARM7 Thumb core-based microcontroller for low-cost, low-power, high-performance applications such as optical storage, point-of-sale terminals, office machines, printers and various digital consumer products. The HMS39C7064, HMS39C7092, and HMS39C70256 each feature an embedded flash memory of 64K bytes, 192K bytes and 256K bytes with 4K bytes SRAM, external memory controller, power management, eight external interrupts, 11 internal interrupts, six-channel 16-bit general purpose timers, two-channel SIO (UARTs), five-channel, 10-bit ADC, eight-bit watch dog timer and programmable input/output (PIO) up to 81 pins in a 100LQFP package.

General sampling of the HMS30C7202 device will begin in the second quarter of 2001, with mass production scheduled for the third quarter of 2001. Development systems, device drivers and sample code documentation will be available in April 2001.

General sampling of the HMS39C70XX is available later this month, with mass production scheduled for the second quarter of 2001.
