PTSC Adds Linux for IGNITE
SAN DIEGO-- (BUSINESS WIRE)-July 19, 2002--PTSC (Patriot Scientific Corp.)(OTCBB: PTSC - news) announced that in response to developer's requests, the IGNITE™ microprocessor will be made available with a RTOS (Real Time Operating System) version of Linux®. The IGNITE processors and Intellectual Property (IP core) are presently, and will continue to be, available with VxWorks®. With the addition of Linux, product developers will have the option of selecting either Operating System with the IGNITE technology.
"The IGNITE, with its highly efficient architecture, is increasingly becoming the embedded processor being considered for applications that require the servicing and coordination of complex tasks between various functional entities comprised of hardware and software components," explained PTSC's V.P. of Engineering, Joey Maitra. "Many development engineers prefer Linux as it is royalty free and they have access to the source code. This allows them to tailor the Operating System to address their precise needs," Maitra continued.
Jeff Wallin, PTSC's CEO added, "The version of Linux to be available on the IGNITE is very compact, real time and ideal for those applications in the embedded community that need time critical responses. This move also broadens the market for the IGNITE to those developers who require a Linux Operating System for their applications."
